Question:
I was eating at a restaurant when the server dropped a hot plate and it was heading for a baby’s head. I jumped out of my chair and grabbed for the plate causing burns on my arms and I also threw my back out of place. Is this grounds for a lawsuit and can I get some type of compensation without having the attorneys involved?

Answer:
Yes, it is grounds for a lawsuit. You can prosecute the claim through small claims court without an attorney. However, the damages are limited, depending on the state that you live in.
