Origin 21 Wall Mirrors Sold At Lowe’s Recalled Due to Fall and Laceration Hazard
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (September 8, 2024) – Huahong Art Home Sharesn recalled Origin 21 Wall Mirrors over defects that can seriously injure users.
The recall was issued on August 1, 2024. Around 27,400 of the affected mirrors were sold. Consumers were able to purchase two versions of the mirrors, one of which was oval-shaped and the other was rectangular.
The issue with the recalled mirror is that they can detach from the metal plate used to hold them. This could lead to a situation where a child or an adult is hit by the falling mirror and seriously injured.
The firm that makes them has received 15 reports of the mirrors separating from the metal hanger.
Liability For Accidents Involving Mirrors
Accidents involving consumer products remain alarmingly common. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “In 2020, an estimated 28,535,000 people sought medical attention for an injury related to, but not necessarily caused by, a consumer product. This is a decrease of more than 7.7 million (21 percent) from the 2019 estimate.” Children tend to be particularly at risk because they may use products in ways that were unintended. Companies should take a number of actions in order to protect consumers.
- Companies should ensure that all of their products are well tested.
- Companies should comply with all safety guidelines by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
- Companies should issue recalls as early as possible after learning consumers are being injured by their products.
All companies have a legal obligation to create products that are reasonably safe. Product liability claims may be based on negligence, strict liability, or breach of warranty. If a product has a design defect that causes it to be dangerous, this could form the basis of a strict liability claim. Design defects are inherent to a product and exist before it is manufactured. It is important that certain steps are taken after being injured by a consumer product.
- Medical records related to the incident should be preserved.
- It should be determined if the product was recalled.
- An experienced product liability attorney should be contacted.
The vast majority of injuries involving consumer products are preventable. They tend to involve situations where companies fail to follow safety guidelines. Many of the injuries associated with accidents may not be immediately obvious. This is why it is important for victims to seek medical advice as early as possible. After seeking medical advice, an attorney can evaluate the unique facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
